My name is Lori. I am nearing my gastric bypass surgery and cannot wait to start my new life. I have been overweight my whole life, as far back as I can remember. I was always the girl who had "such a pretty face" and I don't want to be that girl anymore. I reached 200 pounds before high school and 300 pounds when I had my second child (who is now 11) and have been over 300 pounds since. For the past several years, I have been severely limited because of back pain and although I have had several CT scans and xrays, nothing more than some beginning arthritic changes have been found. It is because of my weight and I have got to do something to change my weight before I do permanent damage to my back. There are so many things I have been limited to because of my weight. Sitting on a bench next to someone for fear that I will break the bench, roller coasters, vacations with family where I "forget" my swimsuit or some other reason, worrying about fitting in a booth at a restaurant. So, I decided that weight loss surgery was the way to go for me. I have tried every diet in the book and have had some success, but it never lasts. I get to a point where I stop losing and then regain everything back.
I am using this blog to document my journey with the surgery and life after, as well as a vehicle to share recipes and tips with others. Thanks for visiting.
